The SCV Learning Advantage has been the tutoring center of choice in our community since 1980.
We now have our former students bringing their children. We have students from throughout the community and chances are your child is friends with a Learning Advantage student.
We're open Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Our tutoring programs are designed around one-hour lessons, one to several times a week. For more information, please see our About Us page.
The Learning Advantage offers the following tutoring programs:
- Reading
In concert with the most recent literacy standards, our curriculum is phonics and context based, systematic, intensive, and most importantly, shown to raise reading levels. Whether it's getting up to grade-appropriate standards or for enrichment, students learn to love reading.
- Math
Our math program helps students to reduce math anxiety, master math concepts and build a deep understanding of math essentials. We have programs that help students with mathematics ranging from the basics up to pre-calculus.
- Writing
Our approach to writing features individualized instruction to help students at all levels master the process of writing, whether they need help in organizing their thoughts, communicating ideas and/ or increasing their vocabulary.
- Study Skills
The Learning Advantage's study skills program is centered around helping children become better students. We approach schoolwork and homework in a number of ways, both traditional and novel, to help create a program that fits your child's individual needs. After applying their new skills in studying, organization and test-taking, students learn to work independently and with confidence.
